Exercise Classes

Buff Bones Licensed Instructor

Introductory Level 1 and Intermediate Level 2 Buff Bones® Classes at Oasis Rochester and at the Canandaigua Family YMCA. This new and fun workout builds your bones and boosts your balance. It integrates Pilates, strength training, functional movement and rehabilitative exercises to improve the health and longevity of your bones and joints. This program is safe for those with osteoporosis. Buff Bones® is a medically-endorsed, full body workout that only licensed instructors can provide. Participants must be able to stand on both feet and get up from and down to the floor without assistance. Class size is limited to allow for optimal instruction and focus on proper form.

New Seated/Standing Class

NEW class at Oasis Rochester! Get the bone building benefits of the Buff Bones® program without having to get up and down from the floor. Join Nancy for this fun workout that builds your bones and boosts your balance. This class is a series of sessions that integrates Pilates, strength training, functional movement and rehabilitative exercises to improve the health and longevity of your bones and joints. Use of a band (provided) is included. This program is safe for those with osteoporosis and easily modified for those with osteoarthritis. Buff Bones® is a medically-endorsed, full body workout that only licensed instructors can provide. Always consult your physician before starting any new exercise program. Participants must be able to sit at the edge of a chair and stand on both feet. Class size is limited to allow for optimal instruction and focus on proper form.

Speaking Events

Nancy is happy to customize a presentation to your small or large group focusing on any topic related to aging well. She has been speaking for years on topics such as fall prevention, osteoporosis, arthritis and degenerative changes of the spine, importance of exercise with metabolic conditions such as diabetes, connection of exercise and cognition and dementia, among many others.

Workshops

Nancy specializes in personalizing programs to include education and activity. For example, in 2018 Nancy will be presenting on fall prevention and include evidence-based assessments of fall risk and prescribing exercises to help address specific deficits. Follow-up reassessments will be provided at a later date to judge progress. See Aging Well Now schedule of events for more information.
